Bob the Robber 2 Levels, Stars and the Bonus Level

Published · Updated · 3 min read

Bob the Robber 2 is a side-on stealth puzzle game made by Meow Beast and released in November 2013, according to its page on Kizi. Bob is a thief, but this time he is trying to save the city. Each level is a building cut open so you can see every floor, with stairs, lifts and doors between them. You reach a target, take it, and walk out through the exit. This post covers how the levels are built, what devices you have to beat, and how stars are counted.

Eleven levels, one locked

The level map holds 11 levels. Clearing one opens the next. Levels 1 to 10 form the story, and level 10 ends with a closing cut-scene. Level 11 is a bonus level that stays locked until you have 50 stars in total. Each level gives at most 5 stars, so 50 means a perfect 5 on every one of the first ten.

What each level throws at you

Counts come from the level layouts in the game files. Level 1 also carries six tip signs, so it works as the tutorial.

The devices

  • Padlocks: press Up at one to start a timing game. A gap slides back and forth, you move the pick with Left and Right, and press Up when the pick is over the gap. Some padlocks have two gaps or a narrower one. A miss makes the pick slip, and Esc backs out.
  • Code locks: type the code with the number keys or tap the keypad on screen. Backspace deletes a digit.
  • Computers: scroll the menu with Up and Down. One entry shows the door code you need for a code lock.
  • Electrical panels: move the cutters across three wires (green, blue and orange) with Left and Right and press Space to cut. The lasers go off either way, but the wrong wire costs you an alert.
  • Terminals: a small puzzle where you slide a key with the arrow keys around barriers to reach a target.
  • Turrets: wall guns that end the run at once if they fire while Bob is in front of them.

How stars and score are counted

Every level has a money target and a time limit. The targets rise from $200 in level 1 to $1,375 in level 10, and $1,600 in the bonus level. Time limits run from 120 seconds (level 3) to 200 seconds (level 11).

For stars, the game takes the cash you collected and subtracts a tenth of the money target for each alert. The result is compared with the target:

Share of the money targetStars
100% or more5
71 to 99%4
51 to 70%3
31 to 50%2
11 to 30%1
10% or less0

So five stars needs nearly all the cash and no alerts. The time limit matters for score instead: the score shown on the news screen after a level is the seconds left under the limit, plus the cash, plus a bonus for each unused alert. Replays only keep your best stars and best score.
